Winona Ryder put her 1930’s Spanish Villa on the market in October for an asking price of $4.095 million.
Ryder paid $2.6 million for her Tinsletown home in March of 1998, adding to a long list of celebrities who have occupied the home dating all the way back to the silent movie era. Before Ryder, occupants include actress Angie Everhart (of MOVEIMOVEMOVIE fame) and Bernie Taupin (famous lyricist and long time songwriting collaborator of Sir Elton John).
The 3,765 square foot home is well hidden behind hedges of ficus trees while bougainvillea and wisteria frame the balconies and entryway. Several access points lead to a brick patio in the backyard that surrounds an in ground pool. The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and has remained largely untouched since it’s construction in 1936. The home’s authenticity is evident, especially in the bathrooms, where the properly maintained vintage pink and blue tiles remain untouched. And while powder blue and pink may not be the colors I would choose to layer my bathrooms with, it’s simply nice to see something so well preserved in a celebrity home. As of December 2011, the asking price on the house had already dropped to $3.95 million. And while that’s not a significant drop when it comes to luxury Hollywood homes, it could be a sign of things to come for this classic Spanish Villa.
