Sonny Rollins’s birth chart

A Virgo Sun finds purpose in being useful and doing a job properly, and Sonny Rollins's energy tends to stay steady as long as there is a task worth doing well. Rest is the hard part, because it can feel undeserved until everything is fixed. Typically a piece of work is still being adjusted long after everyone else would call it finished.

The Moon in Pisces makes for a porous daily mood, one that picks up the emotional temperature of a room without choosing to. Quiet, music or time near water probably restores Sonny more than talking things out. It can be easy for them to miss how much of what they feel belongs to someone else.

Mercury in Libra thinks by weighing both sides, and Sonny tends to communicate diplomatically, often finding the version of an idea that will land well with whoever is listening. Settling on an opinion can take so long that the moment for it passes. They may change their mind in the middle of a conversation because the other point had merit.

Born before about 00:05: Venus in Libra

Venus in Libra loves with an instinct for balance and partnership, and Sonny probably values harmony, fairness and someone who makes an effort to look good together. The risk with this Venus is staying in a relationship for the sake of the pairing itself. Sonny may give up a personal preference before anyone has even asked.

Born after about 00:05: Venus in Scorpio

Venus in Scorpio loves intensely and privately, and Sonny is likely to value depth and total honesty over ease. Testing loyalty can create the very distance this placement fears most. There is an all-or-nothing quality to how this Venus commits, with little interest in anything in between.

Mars in Cancer acts to protect the people and things that matter, and its anger is usually about feeling hurt more than feeling wronged. The habit to watch, for Sonny, may be going quiet or indirect instead of naming the upset. Other people tend to notice a shift of mood and take a while to trace it back to its cause.

For Sonny, Jupiter in Cancer means growing by nurturing others and building a home that people want to return to. The excess can be protecting loved ones past the point they need it. Generosity here takes the form of home-cooked meals, open doors and an instinct to take in anyone who needs somewhere to land.

Saturn is at home in Capricorn, a placement that builds discipline as naturally as breathing and often takes on responsibility earlier than most. The doubt, for Sonny, may be never quite believing that enough has been achieved to relax. Others tend to recognise this kind of authority well before it is claimed.

Uranus spends about seven years in each sign, so Sonny shares Uranus in Aries with many people of a similar age. It marks a generation that pushes for change through direct, individual action rather than waiting for permission. In one life it can appear as impatience with the slow-moving institutions older generations built.

Neptune moves slowly, so Sonny shares its place in Virgo with people born years either side. The imagination of this generation turns towards service, craft and idealised routines of self-improvement. In one life it can mean chasing an impossibly perfect daily practice.

Pluto in Cancer dates Sonny to an era rather than describing one person. Those born in it live through deep transformation of family, home and nationhood. What an individual may carry is intensity around belonging and who counts as family.
