Andrei Tarkovsky’s birth chart

With the Sun in Aries, Andrei Tarkovsky's sense of purpose tends to come alive when there is a clear start line. They probably feel most like themselves pushing into something new, though that energy can burn hot and fade before the finish. The typical pattern is a project launched with excitement, then handed off once the routine sets in.

Born before about 19:55: Moon in Pisces

The Moon in Pisces makes for a porous daily mood, one that picks up the emotional temperature of a room without choosing to. Quiet, music or time near water probably restores Andrei more than talking things out. It can be easy for them to miss how much of what they feel belongs to someone else.

Born after about 19:55: Moon in Aries

The Moon in Aries keeps day-to-day needs simple: something to do right now, and permission to feel it and move on. For Andrei, comfort probably comes from action rather than discussion. The instinct of this Moon is to pace the room or go for a walk rather than sit with a feeling until it passes on its own.

Mercury in Aries suggests that Andrei thinks in quick, decisive strokes and says what they mean without much preamble. Sometimes the words arrive before the thought is fully formed, which can come across sharper than intended. It is a mind that finishes other people's sentences and prefers a fast decision to a long meeting.

Venus in Taurus loves steadily and shows it through consistency, touch and shared comfort rather than grand gestures, and in Andrei's chart it is likely to value loyalty and things built to last. Because change feels like loss, this Venus can hold on to a relationship past its natural end. Months in, people with this placement tend to remember exactly how someone takes their coffee.

For Andrei, Mars in Aries points to acting immediately and decisively, with anger that tends to flare fast, hot and honest before it clears. The downside is acting before a situation has been thought all the way through. The argument or the project tends to start the second the impulse arrives, with little patience for waiting.

Jupiter in Leo grows through creative confidence and a willingness to take up space. For Andrei the overreach may be overselling their own contribution or expecting more credit than a situation calls for. There is a natural showmanship here that lifts a room, and occasionally a story that grows a little in the retelling.

With Saturn in Aquarius, Andrei's discipline probably gathers around belonging to a group on their own terms; it is the placement of the one-time outsider. The doubt means holding back the stranger ideas until there is no risk of mockery. The outsider often ends up as a trusted voice in exactly the kind of community that once seemed unlikely to accept them.

Uranus spends about seven years in each sign, so Andrei shares Uranus in Aries with many people of a similar age. It marks a generation that pushes for change through direct, individual action rather than waiting for permission. In one life it can appear as impatience with the slow-moving institutions older generations built.

Neptune moves slowly, so Andrei shares its place in Virgo with people born years either side. The imagination of this generation turns towards service, craft and idealised routines of self-improvement. In one life it can mean chasing an impossibly perfect daily practice.

Pluto in Cancer dates Andrei to an era rather than describing one person. Those born in it live through deep transformation of family, home and nationhood. What an individual may carry is intensity around belonging and who counts as family.
