In the latest of celebrity news, “Wedding Crashers” star Vince Vaughn just bought Kate Bosworth’s Los Angeles hideaway for $2.375 million. Bosworth decided to let the house go following her recent marriage to director Michael Polish.
The 2,890 square feet house was built in 1955. Bosworth paid $2.1 million for it back in 2005. It has three bedrooms, two and a half baths, and a pool. The home features hardwood floors, lots of large windows providing breathtaking canyon views, and a spa-style master bath with a jetted tub. The home has been updated extensively since the 50’s and currently has a chef kitchen with professional appliances.
No doubt Bosworth enjoyed whipping up meals in such a luxe space. She reportedly loves to watch cooking shows, and enjoys recreating the dishes at home while enjoying family time with Polish and his daughter. The new family has moved on to a home in Montana.
Bosworth is famous for her roles in movies such as “The Horse Whisperer” and “Blue Crush,” and for her modeling work for Calvin Klein and Revlon. She met husband Polish when he directed her in the 2013 film “Big Sur.”
Bosworth listed the house in early 2014 for $2.499 million. Vaughn scooped it up for just slightly less. Vaughn’s wife, Kyla Weber, is a former real estate agent, which surely didn’t hurt during the negotiation process.
Vaughn already has some extensive landholdings, including two homes in Los Angeles. In 2013 he bought a 5,563 square foot Colonial in La Cañada Flintridge for just shy of $4 million, in preparation for the arrival of his second child with Weber. In early 2014 he bought an even larger Craftsman-style abode in Manhattan Beach from former USC football coach Lane Kiffin for $6.447 million. Is Vaughn still hunting for a perfect nest for his growing family, or building a real estate empire?
He also owns a Chicago townhouse which he has not lived in since 2006. That year, he moved on to a penthouse in the Palmolive Building. (He still owns this as well, although he has attempted to sell in the past.) He is renting the three bedroom townhouse for $9,500 per month. It features a scenic roof-top retreat and a home theater system.
Perhaps the Bosworth home will satisfy Vaughn’s thirst for luxury living. The house was built around an open floor plan, with a connected living room and dining area and a cozy fireplace. Exposed wood beams are set into the white ceiling, and skylights allow even more light into the airy rooms. French doors open onto the lap pool and the outdoor entertaining areas. The house is secluded, set at the end of a drive on the half-acre estate, and protected by a privacy gate.
Vaughn is best known as a comedic actor in films including “Dodgeball: a True Underdog Story” and “Couples Retreat.” He got his big break playing an aspiring actor in 1996’s “Swingers.” He has been married to Weber since 2010. The couple have two children.
