Mercury in Capricorn

Mercury in Capricorn is where Mercury sat in the zodiac at the moment of birth, the part of a chart read for how you think, talk and learn. Mercury stays in a sign for two to ten weeks, longer when it turns retrograde. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign.

Of the 6,194 well-known people in StarMap's dataset, 523 have Mercury in Capricorn for the whole of their birth date. Ronald Reagan, Pope Francis and Shakira are among them. Their commonest Sun signs are Capricorn (253), Aquarius (155) and Sagittarius (99). 41 more were born on a day Mercury moved into or out of Capricorn and are left out, because the hour decides and StarMap has no birth time for them.

Ronald Reagan and Pope Francis both have Mercury in Capricorn. Is your Mercury in Capricorn?Find out with the free Mercury sign calculator

What Mercury in Capricorn means

Read for how you think, talk and learn. If this is your placement:

You think methodically and communicate in a measured, practical way that people tend to trust. You can be so focused on the useful conclusion that you dismiss ideas that have not yet proven their worth. In a conversation other people expected to be casual, you get straight to the point.

One placement is one part of a chart; the Sun, the Moon, the rising sign and the planets around them change how it plays out. Draw your whole chart to see the rest.

Positions are computed from each person’s birth date and place with the astronomy-engine ephemeris, checked against Swiss Ephemeris. Birth data comes from Wikidata; a placement is listed only when it holds for the whole birth date, and a rising sign only with a birth time Astro-Databank records. Readings describe tendencies, for entertainment and self-reflection; StarMap predicts nothing. Every planet in every sign.
